The Poetic Face

A virtual portrait exhibition
January 2, 2023
to
April 14, 2023

"The Poetic Face is an art exhibition that explores the concepts of conversation, and self-expression, through portraiture and poetry."

Poets from within the Edmonton poetry community were invited to be involved in this project as both portrait models and poets.

Originally scheduled to be an in-person exhibition in April/May 2020 in Edmonton AB, The Poetic Face was postponed due to the pandemic.

The exhibition will now be a virtual art show presented on this art blog via the home page.

My Home Page will host each new portrait as it is posted, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday over the next, approximately fifteen weeks, a new portrait, along with a short "creation" video, will be posted.

The exhibition consists of 45 portraits of poets, or a member of their family.

Original poetry, submitted by a number of the poets, was intended to be displayed next to their portraits during the in-person exhibition.

These poems will not be exhibited on my blog during this virtual exhibition due to copyright.

Instead, an in-person, poetry reading event will be held (TBA) in April or May 2023 giving voice to the creative work of the poets who submitted a poem for the original show and chapbook.

These poets will have the opportunity at the event to read their creative work from the chapbook.

The chapbook will be unveiled at this event.

The Poetic Face chapbook will be designed and created by the talented *Lisa Mulrooney,

Poet Laureate for the town of Stony Plain and co-founder of the Parkland Poets’ Society.

Copies of the chapbook will be available for purchase at the event.

(*Lisa will be contacting participating poets when the Chapbook is printed and the reading event is scheduled.)

A percentage of each portrait purchased from The Poetic Face exhibition will be donated to The Stroll of Poets Society, or another local poetry organization.

"A big thank you to all the poets who participated in The Poetic Face!"

The price per each "original" portrait, $325.00

Size is 14" x 11"

Each portrait is framed and ready to hang.
