Tudor Red is the name I gave this lily from my garden, because when I was painting it my mind drifted to the T.V. series called The Tudors and the third and final season coming this fall.Mixing the rich jewel tones for the petals conjured up visions of luxurious fabrics... silk, velvet, brocade... which led to daydreaming about the gorgeous costumes worn by the cast of the show. I am not sure when the Series begins again this fall, but when it starts I highly recommend you take a peek at the visual feast that will be laid before you on the screen.
This red lily would be right at home on the set... until someone lopped off it's head.
